At Fiber Fresh Carpet Cleaning we use the truck mounted hot water extraction carpet cleaning method. Hot water extraction is the most efficient and effective way of cleaning carpets. The world’s largest carpet manufacturer, Shaw Industries, recommends the hot water extraction method as the preferred method of carpet cleaning. In fact, many carpet manufacturer’s call for hot water extraction cleaning in order to preserve the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty.
The hot water extraction method uses high pressure to force a hot cleaning solution into your carpet. This solution, or pre-spray as it is sometimes called, is a detergent similar to the pre-sprays commonly used on laundry. After this heated pre-spray is allowed to dwell and break down the soil, it is rinsed from your carpet fibers with a neutralizing rinsing agent that passes through our carpet wand. As it passes through the wand it is sucked out into the waste tank of our truck, along with the soil and grime, by a high powered vacuum system. The reason this method works best is the combination of the high heat, proper cleaning agents, powerful extraction or vacuum system and neutralizing rinsing agent that leaves your carpeting feeling soft to the touch. The neutralizing rinse is similar to the way a conditioner makes your hair feel softer.
Hot water extraction can be performed using either a truck mounted extraction unit or a portable unit. A truck mounted unit is operated from a vehicle parked in your driveway with hoses running into your home to the cleaning wand. A portable unit is a small, self contained unit that is brought into your home. Major carpet manufacturers recommend the truck mounted method because of the ability of the unit to reach higher water temperatures and its greater suction power for removing dirt and pollutants from your carpeting. Portable units should only be used in areas that cannot be reached with truck mount units. At Fiber Fresh Carpet Cleaning we use truck mounted extraction, except in the rare instances when only a portable unit can be used.
