Frequently Asked Questions

Let’s share some answers to some of our most commonly asked questions.

Q: How long should we wait to have our carpets cleaned?

Every home or office will vary depending on the number of people and frequency it is used.  All carpeting should be cleaned a minimum of once a year.  The more the carpet is used, the more often it will need to be cleaned.  The best thing you can do for your carpeting is to have it cleaned regularly by a qualified professional carpet cleaning company. However, the build-up of soil promotes wear to your carpet more than regular foot traffic. Foot traffic grinds the soil into the carpet fibers which causes a sandpaper effect and will make the fibers dull and become warn out looking.  That being said, the more soil in the carpet the faster it will be wear.

Q: Aren’t all carpet cleaning companies roughly the same?

No.  As with any industry, there is an array of carpet cleaners out there from John-Smith working out of the back of his car, to the large franchise companies. Some companies use cheap chemicals and don’t have proper equipment or training to properly clean your carpeting.  Some focus more on quantity of jobs and not quality of work.  They see how many jobs they can get done each day and don’t focus on doing each job perfectly.  Here at Fiber Fresh we use only the highest quality products, the cleaning equipment recommended by most carpet manufacturers and we have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so you know your carpets will be cleaned correctly.  All of our cleaning technicians are IICRC certified and go through the proper training before entering your home.  Fiber Fresh is a family owned business so we treat every home as if it were our own.  We use corner guards to protect your walls and trim and use floor mats and drop clothes over wood floors to protect them as well.  To avoid bringing extra dirt into your home our technicians wear foot covers whenever entering the building.

Q: How soon can I walk on the carpet/ How long will it take to dry?

It will be safe to walk on regularly 3-4 hours after cleaning is finished.  Try to keep children, pets and heavy traffic off until then.  When furniture is moved and put up on foam blocks or plastic tabs it is recommended to leave them up for 24 hours to prevent any transfer of dye or wood stain.

Q: What if a spot/stain reoccurs?

If a spot returns a day or so after cleaning, it more than likely is due to the nature of the spot. Deep stains tend to re-surface if they are in the backing and/or padding of the carpet.  Let us know if this happens as we have different methods for treating those particular types of stains.

Q: Why should I have my carpets protected?

3M SCOTCHGARD Carpet Protection helps your carpeting in a number of ways.  When Scotchgard carpet protector is applied to the carpet fibers, it puts a protective barrier around each fiber. This protective barrier resists moisture so when you do have a spill, it gives you a window of time to get it cleaned up.

  • Scotchgard helps protect against both oil and water based stains.
  • Helps carpet fibers resist soiling
  • Helps spills blot up before they become stains
  • Helps stains release more easily when carpet and upholstery is professionally cleaned and Helps carpet and                upholstery stay cleaner for a longer period of time.

Another important way that this Scotchgard helps you is when dealing with heavy traffic areas that tend to wear out faster than normal carpeting due to regular use. Having this protective coating on your carpet helps reduce the wear and abrasion caused by soil in the carpet being ground into the fibers as you walk on it. This protects the carpet from excessive matting, and in turn will cause your carpet to perform better and last longer
